Dr. Arunava Datta

Dr. Arunava Datta is a consultant neuropsychiatrist based in Siliguri. After completing his MBBS, his fascination with the brain led him to a Junior residency in Neurology at IHBAS, Delhi, and then an MD in Neuropsychiatry at Gauhati Medical College. During his postgraduate studies, he became the first psychiatry resident to receive a grant from the Ministry of Science and Technology, India, for research on dementia in North Eastern India.

He completed his senior residency at NEIGRIHMS and has published papers on anxiety disorders, dementia, and culture-bound syndromes. Dr. Datta has researched anxiety spectrum disorders, depression, and substance use, and received specialized training in addiction treatment from the Government of India in 2015.

He is also trained in Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation techniques at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, including Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and advanced Electroconvulsive Therapy.
